Among the finest sounding and responding horns ever made are the C.F. Schmidt, and the Kruspe. These fine instruments were made in Germany, where bell making was and still is an art form. In Erlbach, Germany there is a bell maker who has learned bell making from a long line of masters in the C.F. Schmidt tradition. Wes Hatch imports bells from this maker. The bell is made from a single sheet of brass. The flare is not made separately and then brazed onto the stem. The bell produces a rich, projecting sound from the softest pianissimo to the loudest forte.

The Hatch horn is available with a detachable bell as well as a standard, non cut bell.
